You have such a warmth to your voice. The entire time I kept going, “I just want to hear some more range. I was wanting you to go –“. If you do go with me, just know, Sam, I’m going to push you a little bit into a place that kind of pushes that chest voice ’cause you already have the intimacy factor.
Blake Shelton’s comment
I just don’t see you being the artist that’s gonna try to razzle and dazzle us hitting big notes. I just wanted to be sure I could believe you. And by the end of that performance, I thought, “man, this guy’s really got it.” You know what I mean, you really could feel it. My job as a country singer is to make people believe it, you know? I have songs about going to prison. And believe it or not, I haven’t been to prison yet.
John Legend’s comment
What Kelly said about the warmth of your voice is really true, but I felt like at the beginning, there was a little bit of unsteadiness and it made me a little bit hesitant.
It’s always fun to turn around and see that spirit of joy that you bring to music. People are going through so much craziness right now in the world. They’re looking for someone to make them feel better. And I feel like you have the ability to do that.
