British Pakistani rapper Zed (Riz Ahmed) is a rising star on the cusp of his first world tour. But, he is struck down by an illness that threatens to derail his big break. Zed is soon forced to confront his past, his family, and the uncertainty of his legacy.

Mogul Mowgli is produced by Riz Ahmed, Thomas Benski, Bennett McGhee, and Michael Peay. It premiered in the Panorama section at the 70th Berlin Film Festival in February 2019, and played in virtual cinemas at the Melbourne International Film Festival. BFI Distribution and BBC will release Mogul Mowgli in select UK cinemas on October 30, 2020. It is scheduled for release in the USA on September 3, 2021.
British actor, rapper, and activist Riz Ahmed (age 38), also known as Riz MC plays the lead role Zed. Ahmed is known for his work in indie films, the TV series Britz (2007) and Dead Set (2008), in the HBO miniseries The Night Of, and his breakout film role in Nightcrawler (2014). His film credits include Jason Bourne, Rogue One, Venom. He has won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for The Night Of, and has received nominations for a Golden Globe and three British Independent Film Awards. He is the first Asian male to win an acting Emmy, and the first Muslim and first Asian to win a lead acting Emmy. He was included on the front cover of the 2017 annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world.
