Samantha (Valentina Bellè), a kidnapping victim, resurfaces after 15 years and is in shock after being imprisoned and hospitalized. Profiler Dr. Green (Dustin Hoffman) tries to help her remember to find clues. They negotiate Samantha’s memories of the labyrinth, an underground prison with no way out, in which someone forced the young woman to solve riddles and puzzles, rewarding her successes and punishing her failures. A private investigator named Genko (Toni Servillo), is also on the kidnapper’s trail, as all of them try to piece together the mystery.
Into the Labyrinth (Italian: L’uomo del labirinto) is a 2019 Italian thriller film directed by Italian writer and filmmaker Donato Carrisi (The Girl in the Fog). The screenplay is also written by Donato Carrisi and is adapted from his own novel. The film stars Dustin Hoffman, Toni Servillo, Valentina Bellè, and Vinicio Marchionin.

Into the Labyrinth is produced by Maurizio Totti and Alessandro Usai. It played at the David di Donatello Awards 2020, where director Donato Carrisi received a nomination for David of the Youth Award. It was also shown at the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists 2020, where it was nominated for Best Original Story and Best Production Design. This film opened in Italy in October 2019.
