John Holiday performs an amazing version of “Misty” by Johnny Mathis on The Voice Blind Auditions 2020 (Season 19). Holiday’s audition is probably one of the most shocking this season, as judges were surprised to see him as they turned their chairs, when they were expecting the singer to be a woman because of his sweet, high-pitched voice.
John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Gwen Stefani turned their chairs, but Kelly was blocked by John Legend. In the end, Holiday picked John Legend to be his coach.

John Holiday The Voice Audition 2020 “Misty”.
“Misty” is a jazz standard written in 1954 by pianist Erroll Garner, with lyrics added later by Johnny Burke. It became the signature song of Johnny Mathis, appearing on his 1959 album Heavenly and reaching number 12 on the U.S. Pop Singles chart later that year. The song has been recorded many times, including versions by Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

Judges’ Comments:
Kelly Clarkson told herself not to turn knowing that “she” (auditionee) is going to pick John Legend. “And then I turned around and you were a man,” she said. Kelly said Holiday is someone to use a block on. And with each coach only having one block per season, it shows how badly John wants Holiday for his team. She said Holiday has an incredible range and said she was so shocked when she turned around.
Blake Shelton teased that everyone knows Holiday is going to choose John, including camera people, producers, the virtual audience on screens, even pets.
John Legend initially wanted to know what Holiday likes to sing and the latter replied that he traditionally sings opera. As to Blake’s teasing, John said Blake is trying to come between them and “psychs the artist out.” He said he Blake is actually working on behalf of Gwen. He concluded by saying, “Everything you did was so beautiful. It was so musical.”
Gwen Stefani said Holiday’s tone is so different from anything she ever heard. “It sounds so retro in such a great way. You know who you are, you know what you want to do. It’s really just about having someone to be your cheerleader.”
Kelly chimed in and said that since Holiday has so much in common with John Legend, he should try somebody different and not be so predictable. But Holiday ultimately decided to join Team John Legend despite all the teasing from Blake and Kelly’s pitch for Gwen.
The nineteenth season of the American reality television series The Voice premiered on October 19, 2020, on NBC. Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend returned as coaches for their nineteenth, sixth and fourth season, respectively. Gwen Stefani rejoined the panel for her fifth season, after being replaced by Nick Jonas last season. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his nineteenth season as host.
