Shalom Chorale take us to church with an incredible gospel mash-up of including Mary Mary’s “Shackles (Praise You)” and “Be Not Dismayed” during the semi-finals round of Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14).
The gospel choir ended up in the top three acts for the night but lost the judges’ vote. Stand-up comedian Nabil Abdulrashid won the judges’ vote for semi-final 5, advancing him to the final. Shalom Chorale will now have to wait for the public vote result like the other semi-finalists who lost the judges’ vote, to see if they will get a chance to compete in the final.

Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Series 14) began broadcasting in the UK on April 11, 2020. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government. The first half aired audition episodes between April to May, which had been filmed before the national lockdown. The second half is currently airing the remaining episodes across September to October.
Production on the second half of the series saw considerable changes including a change in the voting system. All episodes being aired weekly – a first in the programme’s history – and all semi-finals are pre-recorded.
Before the first semi-finals were to begin, Simon Cowell sustained a back injury following an electric bike accident, and was replaced by Ashley Banjo as a stand-in.
