The Secrets We Keep is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Stuart Ford, Erik Howsam, Adam Riback, and Greg Shapiro. In May 2020, Bleecker Street acquired distribution rights to the film. It is scheduled to be released on September 16, 2020 in select theaters and then on VOD on October 16, 2020.
Swedish actress Noomi Rapace (age 41) plays the lead role of Maja in the film. Rapace became internationally famous with the Swedish film adaptations of the Millennium series: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest. In 2011, she was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and for an International Emmy Award for Best Actress for the miniseries version of the trilogy. Her film credits include Daisy Diamond (2007), Beyond (2010), Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), Prometheus (2012), Dead Man Down (2013), Child 44 (2015), and What Happened to Monday (2017).
