Major Arcana tells the story of Dink (Ujon Tokarski), an itinerant carpenter with a reputation for drunkenness and duplicity. He returns to Vermont after years of absence, newly sober, to take possession of his father’s estate: a run down trailer, $15K hidden in a wall vent, and 52 acres of wilderness.
Dink soon crosses paths with Sierra (Tara Summers) with whom he shares a complicated past and tries to prove to her that he’s a changed man. He builds a log cabin by hand, in an attempt to free himself from his troubles. Alone in the woods, Dink loses himself in his work and escapes the persistent reminders of his shoddy existence. As the cabin takes shape, and Dink’s mother (Lane Bradbury) hounds him for the inheritance she believes is rightfully hers, Dink finds his sobriety in jeopardy. He must at last choose his fate: darkness or light.
Major Arcana is directed by American filmmaker Josh Melrod, in his first narrative feature.

Major Arcana had its debut at the Raindance Film Festival in 2018. Since then, Major Arcana won 3 awards and 1 nomination. The film won Best Director at the Ischia Film Festival 2019; Best Vermont-made Film at the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival 2019; and Audience Award at the Vermont International Film Festival 2019. It was nominated for Narrative Feature at the Austin Film Festival 2018.
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the film will be released in virtual cinemas on October 9, 2020 and later on VOD on November 6, 2020.
