As Great Britain’s forces were stretched thin during World War II, Winston Churchill’s Special Operations Executive (SOE) began to enlist women as spies. Their mission was to conduct sabotage and build a resistance. Spymistress Vera Atkins (Stana Katic), later the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond franchise, was the chief recruiter for this secret army. Atkins selected two unusual candidates: Virginia Hall (Sarah Megan Thomas), an American journalist from Baltimore with a wooden leg, and Noor Inayat Khan (Radhika Apte), a wireless officer of Indian descent and an avowed pacifist. Together, they worked to undermine the Nazi regime in France. The courage, sacrifices and grit of these three women helped quell the Nazi occupation – and ultimately turned the tide of the war.
A Call to Spy is directed by producer and filmmaker Lydia Dean Pilcher (Radium Girls, The Darjeeling Limited ) and the screenplay is written by Sarah Megan Thomas.

A Call to Spy first premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival 2019, where it was nominated for Best International Feature Film. The film won the ADL Stand Up Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival 2020. At the Whistler Film Festival 2019, A Call to Spy won the Audience Award and the Best Female-Directed Narrative Feature.
This indie spy drama will be released in select US theaters and VOD on October 2, 2020.
