The Argument follows Jack (Dan Fogler) and Lisa (Emma Bell), a couple whose relationship is tried and tested in a night marred by jealousy and mistrust.
On the last night of the play in which Lisa starred, Jack arranges a party to celebrate. But one of the guests, Lisa’s co-star in the play, flirts with her. And it doesn’t help that they share a history. Maybe Jack is right to be jealous or he’s just projecting. Either way, Jack explodes and later blames Lisa. But Lisa says she did nothing wrong. With their relationship in jeopardy, Jack and Lisa agree that there’s only one way to decide what really happened: They must recreate the evening exactly. Of course, this ends in failure, so they try again and again. Finally, Jack hires actual actors to recreate the evening. But this only leads to more confusion, and now everyone is arguing.

The Argument is produced by Robert Schwartzman and Russell Wayne Groves. Gravitas Ventures acquired distribution rights to the film in August 2020 and will release it on September 4, 2020.
In May 2019, it was announced Dan Fogler, Emma Bell, Danny Pudi, Cleopatra Coleman, Tyler James Williams, Maggie Q, Mark Ryder, Karan Brar, Marielle Scott, Charlotte McKinney and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett had joined the cast of the film, with Robert Schwartzman directing from a screenplay by Zac Stanford. Production concluded in the same month.
