Tijuana Jackson: Purpose Over Prison, formerly known as Purpose Over Logic, is a comedy about a stubborn ex-convict (Romany Malco) with dreams of becoming a world renowned motivational speaker. But two things stand in his way: his attitude and his no-nonsense probation officer (Regina Hall).

Tijuana Jackson (Romany Malco) is a man determined to move beyond his checkered past and achieve his ambition. When asked to be the subject of a 10 minute student film, he leaps at the opportunity. Ten minutes eventually become ten life altering days of courage and inspiration. Determined to be more than a statistic with a pipe dream, Tijuana Jackson stops at nothing to earn the respect of his family, and crush (Regina Hall), who is his probation officer, by becoming the success story they claimed he’d never be.
Produced by Brian R. Etting and Josh H. Etting, Tijuana Jackson: Purpose Over Prison played at the Brooklyn Film Festival 2018, where it won for Editing and Best Actor (Male) for Romany Malco. At the Florida Film Festival 2018, the film won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature. The film also won 4 awards at the Nashville Film Festival 2018, including Audience Choice Award in the Narrative Competition; Best Actor for Romany Malco in the Narrative Competition; Best Music in a Feature Film; and the Grand Jury Prize, Bridgestone Narrative Feature Competition.
Cranked Up will release Tijuana Jackson: Purpose Over Prison in select US theaters on July 24, 2020 and on the internet / VOD on July 31, 2020.
