Isla performed a stunning cover of “Summertime” during the Blind Auditions on The Voice Kids UK 2020 (Season 4).
“Summertime” is an aria composed in 1934 by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. There are over 25,000 recordings of “Summertime”. A version by Billie Holiday was the first to hit the US pop charts, and peaked at number 12. Ella Fitzgerald, and Norah Jones also covered the song.
Isla’s rendition of Gershwin’s aria, which was peppered with amazing runs and riffs, earned a four-chair-turn from The Voice coaches plus a standing ovation from everyone in the studio.

The Voice Kids (British series 4) – The Voice Kids UK is a British TV music competition to find new singing talent. The fourth series premiered on July 11, 2020, and will be broadcast on a weekly basis on ITV. As with the previous three series, it will be hosted by Emma Willis. Danny Jones, Pixie Lott and will.i.am return as coaches, but Jessie J has been replaced by Paloma Faith, who was also previously a coach on the adult version of the show.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the pre-recorded episodes – featuring the auditions and battle rounds – were filmed a few weeks before the nationwide lockdown in March 2020. No information on the live shows has been given yet.
