Clarissa Spata and Virginia Lillye of Team Boy George performed “Call Me” by Blondie during The Battles round on The Voice Australia 2020 (Season 9).
The combination of two artists from the contrasting genres of opera and rock, resulted in an epic battle that accentuated Clarissa’s soprano voice and Virginia’s raw rock sound.
Clarissa and Virginia’s battle round earned a standing ovation from the audience and The Voice Australia judges Guy Sebastian, Delta Goodrem, Boy George, and Kelly Rowland.
Coach Boy George ultimately picked rocker Virginia Lillye as the winner of the battle, advancing her to the Playoffs. He didn’t want to let go of Clarissa and pressed the button to save her, but Delta Goodrem did the same. Clarissa decided to go with Team Delta, as she advanced to the next round.
