This spectacular performance brought the judges to their feet! Nolan Neal, a musician from Nashville, performs his original song, “Lost”, on the world’s biggest stage.
At the opening chat, Nolan revealed that his Dad called him up when he was 26, telling him that he’s going to take his own life. The next day he learned from the news that his father died by suicide. Nolan blamed himself for what happened and thought he was not important enough for his Dad to stick around. Eventually, he got on with his life and ended up getting a record deal in Los Angeles. He became “unmanageable” because he thought he was a rock star. He went to New York to record but he was so messed up he couldn’t sing, so the label dropped him.
Nolan joined America’s Got Talent to have another chance. He said Simon Cowell knows real talent when he sees it, “If I am just kind of a washed-up singer, I know he’ll tell me.” He said he’s now at AGT “sober, very clear and focused, the voice is healthy.” He said he has not touched the hard stuff for 15 years.
“Lost” is the first song that Nolan wrote sober. “It’s about somebody who thinks that they don’t deserve anything because of the things they’ve done.” He said the real win for him is if the song connects with the audience.
Nolan performed his original song with so much emotion that the audience were up on their feet halfway through his performance. All 4 judges of America’s Got Talent gave him a standing ovation and ultimately gave him their Yes votes, advancing him to the next round of the competition.

Simon Cowell told Nolan, “You have an amazing voice. Pretty spectacular. I think you’re a very brave guy and I think you’re very inspirational, Nolan, that someone’s gonna really resonate with a lot of people and for whatever reason, maybe now is your time. I like you a lot.”
Howie Mandel thinks Nolan is amazing and thanked him for being on AGT.
Sofia Vergara, who seem to be on the verge of tears, found Nolan’s song really touching. With a quivering voice she said, “I know very well the sickness of addiction. My family is completely full of this horrific sickness and I totally understand and to be here tonight and to hear that song for me, it gives me a lot of hope about people going through your problem.”
Heidi Klum was the first one who gave Nolan the first Yes vote for his audition.
