Jesse Kramer (age 24), a musician from Nashville, Tennessee, performed “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga during the Auditions round on America’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 15).
“Bad Romance” is from Lady Gaga’s third extended play, The Fame Monster (2009). The song peaked peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, and it has been certified 11-times platinum by the RIAA. Bad Romance also won two Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Short Form Music Video.
Jesse’s rock version of Lady Gaga’s song earned a standing ovation from the audience and four (4) “Yes” votes from the AGT judges, advancing him to the next round of the competition.

Before joining America’s Got Talent, Jesse Kramer has already released several singles and an EP titled “Breakthrough”. He also joined Season 2 of reality TV music competition “The Four: Battle for Stardom”, but was sent home in the Head-to-Head battles.
Judges’ Comments:
Simon Cowell said some people might say that if Jesse’s really rock and roll, why AGT? He said if Jesse needs an outlet and he needs people to see him, why not? “I actually really really enjoyed your audition. So you have my respect for coming on here and doing that.”
Sofia Vergara thinks Jesse’s performance was fantastic. “I loved it. But I was wondering why that song?” Jesse said he wants to take a risk and give all that he can.
Howie Mandel said he loves rock and roll but he does not know if the risk was worth it. “It was interesting and then I’ll be honest with you, I got bored. I don’t like that rendition of that song.” At that point, Howie was booed by the audience.
Eric Stonestreet, a guest judge in in lieu of Heidi Klum, thinks Jesse’s voice is awesome and the gravel tone in his voice is great. “I would be excited to hear you sing – a rock and roll song.”
Simon Cowell said that most importantly, Jesse got an amazing reaction from the audience. So he voted “Yes” a hundred per cent. Howie, Sofia, and Eric also gave Jesse Kramer their “Yes” votes.
America’s Got Talent (AGT) Season 15 premiered in the United States on May 26, 2020, on NBC. For this season, AGT judges are Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, returning Heidi Klum, and newcomer Sofia Vergara.
This season is most notable for its production being affected by the COVID-19 or coronavirus pandemic in 2020, which impacted audition sessions. The program initially moved to filming without an audience present at auditions, before ultimately suspending production. Auditions were later allowed to continue, but via online applications from those quarantined in their homes.
