Guy Sebastian was grilled by other coaches (Delta Goodrem, Kelly Rowland) for making the Mongolian throat singer Bukhu Ganburged perform like a backing player of Johnny Manuel during the Epic Battle, calling the performance “unfair”.
Guy Sebastian defended his decision about not showcasing Bukhu Ganburged’s throat singing that much by saying that he doesn’t care about the battle elements. He said he cares more about both Bukhu and Johnny shining.
Delta Goodrem was having a hard time understanding if the performance of Johnny Manuel vs Bukhu Ganburged can be called a “battle”. According to Delta, she hardly heard Bukhu’s voice which they all turned around for during the audition. And since the episode is an Epic Battle, Delta said, she was expecting to see that both contestants were given their own chances to shine, which for her, wasn’t obvious during the performance because Bukhu seemed like Johnny’s backing player.
Meanwhile, Boy George enjoyed the performance.
But Kelly Rowland walked out. Guy Sebastian called it “disrectful”. Kelly yelled at Guy and told him that he’s the one being disrespectful for putting Bukhu and Johnny together.

The ninth season of The Voice begun airing on 24 May 2020. For the first time in show’s history all of the coaches are returning: Delta Goodrem for her eighth, Kelly Rowland and Boy George for their fourth and Guy Sebastian for his second. Following the exit of Sonia Kruger, Darren McMullen, who hosted the first three seasons, returns with new co-host, Renee Bargh.
Right after the end of the eighth season, the series was renewed for a ninth season and was announced that all coaches would return the new season. Darren McMullen, who exited as host following the conclusion of the third season, returns as host, alongside new co-host Renee Bargh, following the exit of Sonia Kruger.
