Josefina Monasterio, a 73-year old bodybuilder originally from Venezuela, flexed her muscles to “Pump It” by Black Eyed Peas during the Auditions round on America’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 15).
Looking way younger than her age, Josefina said she moved to America in 1973, pursued her education and then worked as a teacher. But now in the later chapter of her life, she is pursuing her dreams. Josefina said she started bodybuilding at age 59.
In the middle of Josefina’s audition, host Terry Crews, who is also a bodybuilder, joined Josefina in showing everyone some of the mandatory poses in bodybuilding.
Although the audience and the AGT judges enjoyed Josefina and Terry’s impromptu act, all of the judges ultimately gave “No” votes to Josefina’s audition. The judges said Josefina is amazing and inspiring but Simon said she can come back next year and “do something.”

Simon Cowell said Josefina is actually amazing, he just don’t quite know what the act is. He later voted “No” but said that Josefina can come back next year and “do something”.
Sofia Vergara commented that Josefina’s talent is the dedication, that Josefina has something special inside of her that allows her to do anything. She voted “No” later on but said she wants to be like Josefina when she gets to her age.
Eric Stonestreet, who’s a guest judge in the absence of Heidi Klum, said “What you’ve done tonight is inspire people.”
Howie Mandel commented said he will call his trainer and say, “Let’s start working. I want the body of a 73-year-old woman.”
America’s Got Talent (AGT) Season 15 premiered in the United States on May 26, 2020, on NBC. For this season, AGT judges are Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, returning Heidi Klum, and newcomer Sofia Vergara.
This season is most notable for its production being affected by the COVID-19 or coronavirus pandemic in 2020, which impacted audition sessions. The program initially moved to filming without an audience present at auditions, before ultimately suspending production. Auditions were later allowed to continue, but via online applications from those quarantined in their homes.
The production staff decided to push through with the broadcast as planned and premiere on May 26. Debate continues on how many episodes would be broadcast with the amount of material that had been recorded.
