Todd Tilghman (age 41) a pastor from Meridian, Mississippi, sang “Love, Me” by Collin Raye during the Top 9 Performances on the semi-finals of The Voice 2020 (Season 18).
Kelly Clarkson said if she could sound like a man when singing, she would like Todd’s voice. She thinks Todd has such a cool storyteller voice. Being a Collin Raye fan, Kelly doubted at first if Todd could deliver. “And then you sang it and you have the perfect amount of storyteller aspects in your tone and everything and you believed it. Believability is so great.” She said it was really smart of Blake to ask Todd to make it interesting for competition because it made the song extra special. Kelly concluded by saying Todd is amazing.
Coach Blake Shelton said the song got to Todd a little bit. He said it was amazing to see all the kids around Todd (he has 8 children) while he was performing. He’s glad to see a different side of Todd’s personality and Blake never thought he’ll see him cry. Blake has always said how Todd has always been cheerful and happy.
Todd Tilghman became a semi-finalist through the public’s vote. Results of the Top 9 Performances will be announced on May 12, 2020. Five artists will advance to the finale.

“Love, Me” was released in October 1991 as the second single from Collin Raye’s album All I Can Be. The single became Raye’s first Number One single on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks charts.
Season 18 of The Voice premiered at 8PM on February 24, 2020 on NBC and will air Mondays at 8 PM. John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their third, fifth and eighteenth seasons, respectively. Nick Jonas joined the panel as a new coach, replacing Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his eighteenth season as host.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, production has done some adjustments. For the first time ever, there will be only three weeks of Live Shows: the Playoffs, the Semi-Final, and the Finale. That’s a big drop compared to six weeks of Live Shows in Season 17.
The three weeks of live shows will also air as lives done at each contestant’s and coach’s home.
As to the voting system, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists and artists who receive the fewest votes will be eligible for the “Instant Save”. America will then save their favorite performer by voting on “The Voice” app (available on iOS and Android) or NBC.com. The artists with the fewest number of votes will be “sent home” or eliminated each week.
