CammWess (age 22) from South Carolina performed “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers during the Live Top 17 Performances on The Voice 2020 (Season 18).
Former Coach Kelly Clarkson said it was such a bummer because she did not actually want to let go of CammWess before. She said he did so many cool tricks with the song and made it his own and said he is such a solid singer and artist.
Coach John Legend said that CammWess taking on the song was such a challenge, but he nailed it and knocked it out of the park. He described CammWess’ tone as honey butter and that it was so sweet and beautiful. He also said CammWess’ song choices are so good and he loves it.

CammWess Sings the Bill Withers Song “Ain’t No Sunshine” – The Voice Live Top 17 Performances 2020
“Ain’t No Sunshine” is a song from Bill Withers’ 1971 album Just As I Am. It was released as a single in 1971, reaching number six on the U.S. R&B Chart and number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Billboard ranked it as the No. 23 song for 1971. The song reached the Top 40 again in 2009, when it was sung by Kris Allen in American Idol Season 8.
Season 18 of The Voice premiered at 8PM on February 24, 2020 on NBC and will air Mondays at 8 PM. John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their third, fifth and eighteenth seasons, respectively. Nick Jonas joined the panel as a new coach, replacing Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his eighteenth season as host.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, production has done some adjustments. For the first time ever, there will be only three weeks of Live Shows: the Playoffs, the Semi-Final, and the Finale. That’s a big drop compared to six weeks of Live Shows in Season 17.
The three weeks of live shows will also air as lives done at each contestant’s and coach’s home.
As to the voting system, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists and artists who receive the fewest votes will be eligible for the “Instant Save”. America will then save their favorite performer by voting on “The Voice” app (available on iOS and Android) or NBC.com. The artists with the fewest number of votes will be “sent home” or eliminated each week.
