Rhino performed “Humble And Kind” by American country music singer Tim McGraw during the semi-finals of The Masked Singer 2020 (Season 3).
The Masked Singer judges/panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and guest panelist Jay Pharoah loved his performance. But Rhino got the lowest number of votes and had to be unmasked as a consequence of his elimination.
Prior to his unmasking, the panel had to make their final guesses. Robin said Rhino is country singer and actor Trace Adkins while Ken and Jenny think he is American former professional baseball pitcher and musician Barry Zito. Nicole, on the other hand, guessed that Rhino is American country music singer Jason Aldean. Guest panelist Jay Pharoah thinks it’s Blake Shelton behind the Rhino Mask.
The Masked singer fans online have been saying all along that Rhino is Barry Zito. So who is Rhino?
Ken, Jenny and majority of The Masked Singer fans are right – Rhino is former baseball player Barry Zito (age 42).

Before Rhino’s identity was revealed, a new video with a set of clues was presented during the show.
Barry Zito played 15 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants. He helped San Francisco win their first championship since 1954 and helped lead the Giants to their second World Series title in San Francisco history. He received the prestigious ML Lou Gehrig Memorial Award in 2012.
Zito had not considered music as a profession until his sister, Sally Zito, asked him to play guitar in her band with which he played during the offseason from 2000 to 2007. He began writing songs in preparation for a career after baseball. He released his first EP, titled No Secrets, on January 27, 2017.
The former baseball pitcher said The Masked Singer has “stretched” him in so many ways. He said it is one of his craziest endeavors.
Some of the clues in Rhino’s package were explained during the show. The #9 is a clue to Zito being the 9th overall pick in the 1999 MLB draft. The planet Mars is a clue to his nickname “Planet Zito” and his son’s name Mars. The “South” sign in Rhino’s package is a clue to Barry being a left-handed pitcher. There was also tons of baseball clues like a literal pitcher, a diamond, a cutter, bunting and a slider. The elephant and seal, referred to the two mascots of the teams he played on.
In the interview after the reveal, Zito said he realized how fun retirement can be and “how fun it is to pursue musical endeavors, and even this crazy one here on this show.” He said he tried to channel the vibe of the Rhino. He picked the Rhino costume because it was rough, tough, huge and beautiful but with sensitive blue eyes.
Zito said being anonymous felt weird but it’s also protection at the same time. He adopted the alias “Orville Bhutto” to protect his identity and said he was flattered when the panelists started guessing that he was a country singer.
With Rhino’s elimination from The Masked Singer, that leaves Night Angel, Turtle, and Frog in the finals round of the competition.
