Suzi Q, an inspiring feature documentary of a trailblazing American rock singer-songwriter Suzi Quatro, who helped redefine the role of women in rock ‘n’ roll, took 4 and a half years to complete.
Australian filmmakers Liam Firmager and Tait Brady were inspired by Suzi Q’s lengthy career and fearless character. The filmmakers were fueled by a sense that Suzi’s trailblazing status wasn’t sufficiently recognised by the music industry and contemporary audiences – especially in North America. Along the way, SUZI Q has become revisionist history of “women in rock’n’roll”, and an intimate insight into a driven, ageless performer.
The film includes testimony from rock luminaries, including Alice Cooper, Joan Jett, Deborah Harry, Cherie Currie, KT Tunstall, Tina Weymouth as well as Suzi’s musical family.
