The Old Guard is an upcoming American superhero film directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Beyond the Lights, Love & Basketball). It is based on Greg Rucka’s comic book of the same name and stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
It is scheduled to be released on July 10, 2020, by Netflix.

In March 2017, Skydance Media picked up the rights to adapt Greg Rucka’s comic The Old Guard into a film. On July 2018, Gina Prince-Bythewood was hired to direct the film, and Rucka to adapt his comic book to the screenplay.
Two years later, in March 2019, Netflix picked up worldwide rights to the film and agreed to finance it with Skydance. Charlize Theron joined the film and will also produce with Beth Kono, A.J. Dix, Marc Evans and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger.
KiKi Layne was confirmed as part of the cast when Netflix picked up the rights. In May 2019, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, and Luca Marinelli joined the cast. A month later, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Harry Melling and Veronica Ngo also joined the cast of the film.
