Lioz Shem Tov (age 43), a “mentalist” originally from Israel performed a hilarious routine during the Auditions round on Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Series 14).
Claiming that his powers include mind reading, telepathy, and seeing the future, Lioz said he doesn’t do magic. He said he’s the only one in the world with these abilities.
Lioz looked quite scary, as Amanda Holden noted. His short, clipped replies as to who he is exuded an aura of mystery and authenticity. But his performance onstage was a total contradiction to everyone’s initial impression.
The comedian mentalist got a standing ovation from the audience and from the BGT judges who loved his performance. Lioz Shem Tov got 4 YES votes from Britain’s Got Talent judges David Walliams, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and Simon Cowell and advanced to the next round of the competition.

Lioz Shem Tov is not a first-time auditionee on the Got Talent franchise. The brilliant comedian has appeared in several Got Talent shows, passed all the auditions, and got through the higher rounds in different Got Talent franchises including Israel’s Got Talent (semifinals), America’s Got Talent (Judge Cuts), Australia’s Got Talent (Finals) and France’s Got Talent.
Way before the Got Talent franchise got hold of Lioz, he already joined several talent shows including NBC’s Last Comic Standing in 2008 where he reached the semifinals and Funniest Person in the World in 2014, where he reached the finals.
Judges Comments:
David Walliams thinks Lioz is an absolute comedy genius and said it was brilliant. Lioz replied seriously, “It’s not comedy.” David continued, “Well then I think you’re screwed, because you’re the world’s worst mentalist.”
Alesha Dixon said it was genius. “It was just brilliant, you had us in the palm of your hands. You have an incredible presence about you and it was hilariously funny.”
Amanda Holden thinks the act is very very funny and said, “I would love to see you go a long way.”
Simon Cowell commented, “I now understand that this guy is a genius.”
Britain’s Got Talent (aka BGT) is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (also known as Ant and Dec), and produced by both Thames (formerly Talkback Thames) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year. The show premiered on June 9, 2007 following the success of America’s Got Talent the previous year.
Every year, contestants of any age can audition for the contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate. Auditionees seek to impress a panel of judges – at present, consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams – in order to secure a place in the live rounds of BGT. The winner gets a cash prize and a place within that year’s performances for the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family.
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14) will air in two parts, the first in April 2020 with pre-recorded audition episodes, while the second containing the live rounds to be aired at a later date. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government.
