When Tim Morris (David Spade) meets his dream girl (Molly Sims) and their relationship quickly escalates through texts, he throws caution to the wind and invites her to his company’s corporate retreat on an island resort in Hawaii. However, when a past blind date (Lauren Lapkus) from hell shows up at the airport for the weekend getaway instead, he learns too late that he’s been texting “The Wrong Missy.”

The film was first announced in January 2019, with David Spade set to star and Tyler Spindel directing. The additional castings of Lauren Lapkus, Geoff Pierson, Sarah Chalke, Molly Sims, Nick Swardson, Jackie Sandler, Chris Witaske and Roman Reigns were announced by March. Filming commenced in that same month.

He became known as a cast member of Saturday Night Live in the 1990s. He later began an acting career in both film and television. His film credits include Police Academy 4 (1987), Tommy Boy (1995), Black Sheep (1996), Joe Dirt (2001), Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser (2015), Grown Ups (2010), Grown Ups 2 (2013), and Father of the Year (2018) among others. On television, Spade starred in Just Shoot Me! (1997-2003), Rules of Engagement (2007-2013) and 8 Simple Rules (2004-2005). For his role in Just Shoot Me!, he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globes. Spade also hosts a late-night talk show Lights Out with David Spade, which premiered on July 29, 2019.
