Judges Comments:
Blake Shelton said, “That’s such a close neck-and-neck competition here because what you did, CammWess was really step out and have your big moment just now. And, Megan, you did, too. And you both just have an incredible gift. If I was choosing, I would go with CammWess.”
John Legend commented, “Megan, you have such an interesting tone…You did a great version of Kelly’s song.” John Legend joked, “She annihilated the original!”
Kelly, the original singer of “Piece by Piece” said, “I kind of want her version. I was like, ‘Yeah.'”
John continued by saying that Megan had a fantastic tone and great control over her voice. To CammWess, who used to be part of Team Legend, John commented, “Oh my God. It was a tour de force as a vocalist. It’s one of the best things we’ll see on this show in any round. I felt mountains of regret that you are not on my team right now.”
Nick Jonas said, “John Legend self-admittedly made a mistake and let you go. You crushed it to show him, I think, more than anybody else, what you can do.” Then Nick thanked Kelly for writing an amazing and great song. To Megan, Nick said, “It was really bold of you to pick this song, too. And it seemed that you must have had a really personal connection to it. If I was Kelly, I would have no idea what I was supposed to do.”
Coach Kelly Clarkson said she had always loved Megan since the Blinds and said she did not know what she had with CammWess because it was their first time to work together. “I cried during both of your performances. It’s just a testament to not only, like, how well you sing, but how well you pick a song that you really relate to. You picked a song that means something. I was sitting here the whole time watching you two sing and I was like, God, I can’t believe theyr’re on my team.”
Kelly explained she’s being strategic in picking the winner of the Knockout, which will be known during The Knockouts Premiere on April 13, 2020. (Update: Eventually, Kelly picked Megan Danielle as the winner of the Knockout, while CammWess was stolen by John Legend.)
