Kelly Clarkson and the contestants’ Coach Nick Jonas gave a standing ovation to both Allegra and Jacob.
Kelly said both performers are fantastic and that both were even. She said song selection is key and commended Allegra for picking a great song. Blake Shelton agreed that the match was even but said Allegra would give Nick a chance for a win this season. John Legend praised both artists but commented that Jacob could put a little more charm in his singing while Allegra should watch her pronunciation.
Coach Nick said that Jacob is an artist he would like to work with. Meanwhile, he described Allegra’s voice as magical and that her performance leaves him entranced. Nick regrets that he paired them together and has to make a choice.

Judges Comments:
Kelly Clarkson said both performers are fantastic. She said it was cool that Jacob slowed the song down, “Cool tone, cool places to go, like, where you went melodically,” she said. To Allegra, Kelly said, “It’s funny you have this, like, almost Willie Nelson effect with pop music. You sing after the beat. I’m like, hanging on to every word.” Kelly thought that both were even and that song selection is real key. She said Allegra picked “a hell of a song.”
Blake Shelton felt it was really even, too. He said Jacob’s guitar skills are great and he has such control of his voice that is truly flawless. But Blake said Allegra is Nick’s chance to win The Voice this season.
John Legend said it was such a good Knockout. He said Jacob was very good at singing but would love for it to be “just a little honey, a little charm on it.” John commented that Allegra’s voice is really inviting and it’s so enjoyable to listen to but she has to watch her pronunciation. John said both of them were so good, he will have a hard time to pick a winner.
Coach Nick Jonas said Jacob has come out of his shell and is fun to be around. “You’re an artist that I would love to work with.” As to Allegra, Nick described her voice as magical. “You find a way to thread that needle through a performance so effortlessly to where I’m just entranceed.” Nick said he loves working with both and is frustrated that he paired them together and now had to make a choice.
Season 18 of The Voice premiered at 8PM on February 24, 2020 on NBC and will air Mondays at 8 PM. John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their third, fifth and eighteenth seasons, respectively. Nick Jonas joined the panel as a new coach, replacing Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his eighteenth season as host.
On the question of whether or not The Voice Season 18 will continue airing amid the coronavirus pandemic, John Legend said that the program have pre-taped shows until the end of April. Whether the three weeks of planned live shows will push through in May is still unknown at this point. John said in his interview with Billboard that everybody’s playing things by ear because no one knows “where the world’s going to be in May.”
