The movie features popular locations such as Temple of Apollo at Delphi, the Ancient Agora of Athens, the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, the island of Hydra, the Caves of Diros, Nestor’s Palace, Niokastro Fortress in Pylos, and the Ancient Stagira. A lot of filming had also been done in restaurants and hotels in Athens, Hydra, Lesvos, Chalkidiki, Pelion, Kavala, and at the Peloponnese.
The Trip to Greece is directed by English filmmaker Michael Winterbottom, who also helmed the earlier films in The Trip series (The Trip, The Trip to Italy, The Trip to Spain). This was supposed to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this year. But the festival was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. IFC Films will release The Trip to Greece in select theaters and on VOD on May 22, 2020.

Just like the earlier films in The Trip series, The Trip to Greece is from a British tv sitcom series starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon as fictionalized version of themselves. The Trip to Greece TV series began airing on Sky One on 3 March 2020. It was edited down into a feature film, set for release in May 2020. Winterbottom, Coogan and Brydon have stated that The Trip to Greece will be the final series for the show, which also means that the feature film will be the last in The Trip franchise.
Coogan and Brydon’s roles as fictionalised versions of themselves are a continuation of their improvised performances in the film A Cock and Bull Story (2005), which was also directed by Michael Winterbottom.
