Astronaut performed “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley during the The Super Nine Masked Singer Special on Week 9 of The Masked Singer 2020 (Season 3).
“Never Gonna Give You Up” is the first single from Astley’s debut album Whenever You Need Somebody (1987). The song was a worldwide number-one hit, initially in the singer’s native United Kingdom and eventually topped the charts in 25 countries, including the United States and West Germany. The song won Best British Single at the 1988 Brit Awards.
The Masked Singer judges Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, and Ken Jeong were all energized by Astronaut’s performance and so were the audience members who cheered as Astronaut danced onstage.
Astronaut earned a “Safe” vote from the audience and advances to the next level of the competition.
