Dance group X1X Crew from Mumbai, India, defied gravity with their dance moves and tricks during the Auditions round on Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) 2020 (Season 14).
The spokesman of the 22-member dance group said that if they win, they will use the money for the education of the young members to upgrade their future and their family.
The X1X Crew audition brought the house down with their performance, and BGT judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Simon Cowell gave them a standing ovation.
The group got 4 yes votes from the judges, advancing them to the next round of Britain’s Got Talent 2020.
Participant: X1X Crew
Age(s): 13 to 28
Genre: Dance
Act: Acrobatic Dance Group
Audition Result: Advanced to the next round
A backstory video showed that the X1X Crew treat each other like family. They also explained that their dance style, which is called Chama, takes inspiration from the Indian culture. The crew members also revealed that they practice from 10 to 12 hours everyday. They practice on streets and parking areas since the group does not have a place where they can perform their elaborate routines.
Judges Comments:
Simon Cowell described the performance of X1X Crew as “exceptional”. He said he was looking around the audience and everyone’s mouth was agape, like him. He concluded with “Brilliant!”
Alesha Dixon loved every aspect of the performance. “There’s cheering, acrobatics, gymnastics, mixed with the street dance. Your energy is insane. I love you guys!”
David Walliams commented, “It was absolutely on the edge of your seat stuff. And I think it was just electric, the atmosphere in here. Amazing guys. Well done.”
Amanda Holden said, “I very much felt like Diversity hit this thing for us and we couldn’t really beat it. I honestly feel that you just smashed it.”
Simon thinks that in years to come, they will be using X1X as the reference point, which is, “It is not as good as X1X Crew India.”
A lot of commenters online are comparing X1X Crew with V. Unbeatable, also a Mumbai-based dance group. V. Unbeatable was a grand finalist on America’s Got Talent 2019 and was the winner of Season 2 of America’s Got Talent: The Champions.
Britain’s Got Talent (aka BGT) is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (also known as Ant & Dec), and produced by both Thames (formerly Talkback Thames) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year. The show premiered on June 9, 2007 following the success of America’s Got Talent the previous year.
Every year, contestants of any age can audition for the contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate. Auditionees seek to impress a panel of judges – at present, consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams – in order to secure a place in the live rounds of BGT. The winner gets a cash prize and a place within that year’s performances for the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family.
On average, Britain’s Got Talent draws 9.9 million viewers per series. A spin-off titled Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, featuring the same judges and hosts, was later produced and broadcast in 2019, following the success of the American edition’s spin-off America’s Got Talent: The Champions. Britain’s Got Talent is contracted to run until 2024.
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14) will air in two parts, the first in April 2020 with pre-recorded audition episodes, while the second containing the live rounds to be aired at a later date. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government.
