Taco performed a cover of “Can’t Help Myself” by The Four Tops during the Group B Championships round on Week 5 of The Masked Singer Season 3 (2020).
Taco was voted “Out” by the audience and was unmasked for the night. Not one of The Masked Singer judges was able to guess the celebrity behind the Taco mask. Nicole’s guesses include Gene Simmons, Barry Manilow, and she even ventured to say, “Also it could be Jesus because his voice was that good.” Robin Thicke went for Howie Mandel or Bob Saget, while Jenny McCarthy said he could be Harry Connick, Jr or Jerry Springer.
So Who is Taco? He’s none other than American TV personality, comedian, game show host and two-time Emmy Award winner Tom Bergeron.
Many of The Masked Singer fans have been saying all along that Taco is Tom Bergeron, although Tim Allen and Tom Hanks were also frontrunners in their guess list.

Tom Bergeron is known as the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos (2001–2015) and Dancing with the Stars (2005–present). From 1994 to 1997, Bergeron co-hosted the morning show Breakfast Time on FX and later re-titled Fox After Breakfast when the show moved to the Fox. He also hosted Hollywood Squares from 1998-2004.
He said he joined the show because he had worked with so many people who work on The Masked Singer. “The prospect of doing something in their midst and fooling them was too good to pass up,” he said.
Bergeron said he felt “relieved” after he was unmasked. He said it’s a lot of work and it’s not easy to sing while in a Taco costume. He revealed how his identity is kept secret throughout the show – wearing a visor and a hoodie and had to be driven, and having an alias at the gate. He joked that rather than continuing as a TV host, he can now be a member of the CIA.
The two-time Emmy Award winning host said he found singing to be a lot of fun, since it is not on the list of what he wants to do professionally.
During the show, another set of clues were presented about Taco Tom Bergeron.
Bergeron explained that the stack of VHS tapes in the clues referred to the early days of “America’s Funniest Videos”. The anchor clue refers to his hosting of talk shows. He explained Nicole’s friendship bracelet with “Kiss” saying she got a perfect score of “Dancing With the Stars” dancing to Kiss. The famous friend referred to in the clues is Bob Saget.
The rest of the clues were also explained. The bowl of baked beans represents his hometown of Boston. The red trolley car is a clue to Tom’s track on the Mr. Rogers tribute album.
As a parting shot, Bergeron said, “We all wear masks. We’re all more complicated than we look at first glance. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Be a little nicer. I think it behooves us all to do that.”
