October Faction is an upcoming American science fiction drama web television series, based on the eponymous comic series by Steve Niles and Damien Worm that is set to premiere on Netflix January 23, 2020.
October Faction follows the story of “globetrotting monster hunters Fred and Deloris Allen who, after the death of Fred’s father, return to their hometown in upstate New York with their teenage children Geoff and Viv. As the family adjusts, Fred and Deloris must hide their identities as members of a secret organization, and our heroes quickly discover that their new small-town setting isn’t as idyllic as it seems”.
On September 28, 2018, it was announced that Netflix had given the production a series order for a first season consisting of ten episodes. The series was created by Damian Kindler who will also act as writer and executive producer. Additional executive producers are set to include James Thorpe, Steve Niles, Thomas Walden, Eric Birnberg, George Strayton and Melissa Blake. Production companies involved with the series include High Park Entertainment and IDW Entertainment.
Sometime after the series order announcement, it was confirmed that Tamara Taylor, J.C. MacKenzie, Aurora Burghart, Gabriel Darku, Wendy Crewson, Megan Follows and Stephen McHattie would star in the series. In October 2018, Maxim Roy was cast in a recurring role.
Damian Kindler is a television and film writer, director and producer. Born in Melbourne, Australia. Kindler’s family later emigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada where he was raised. He currently resides in Venice, California.
Kindler worked on MGM Television’s Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis television series. He joined the Stargate production team at the start of Stargate SG-1’s sixth season, eventually becoming a co-executive producer for the series.
