Alesha Dixon (age 41) gave her first-ever Golden Buzzer on America’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 2) to the Silhouettes, a silhouette dance group composed of members of varying ages. The Silhouettes was the runner-up in AGT Season 6 (2011).
The Silhouettes come from Denver, Colorado. The dance group is led by Lynne (Waggoner) Patton, a choreographer from the Denver area.
Act: Silhouette dance group
Got Talent history: AGT: S6 – Runner-up
Country: USA
Result: Grand-Final Advancement (Golden Buzzer, Alesha Dixon)
For the preliminary round, they gave an emotional performance that moved some people to tears, judge Heidi Klum being one of them.
Simon Cowell commented it was “absolutely beautiful” but asked, “Where’s the dog?” It turns out, three dancers form a silhouette of a dog. He said that the message conveyed by the dance, that one’s life is better because of animals, was “incredibly creative.”
Alesha Dixon said that the performance was so moving and so beautiful, that she thought of her childhood dog and her current dogs that she’s missing. She continued, “I was just completely bowled over, inspired, and I want to see more.” After saying so, Alesha pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending the Silhouettes automatically to the Grand Final.
America’s Got Talent: The Champions (often abbreviated as AGT: The Champions or simply AGTC) is a spin-off of America’s Got Talent (also known as AGT), a televised American talent show competition. Much like the main program, the spin-off was created by Simon Cowell, produced by Fremantle, and broadcast on the NBC television network, premiering on January 7, 2019. The program, which functions in a similar format to AGT, features a variety of participants from across the Got Talent franchise – winners, finalists, live round participants, and other notable entries – competing against each other across a series of preliminaries to secure a place in a grand final and a chance to win a cash prize and the title of America’s chosen “World Champion” within Got Talent.
Last winter’s #1 most-watched alternative series, “America’s Got Talent: The Champions,” returns for a second season that premiered on January 6, 2020. The series features a star-studded panel of judges, including executive producer Simon Cowell, global superstar Heidi Klum, “AGT’s” longest-running judge Howie Mandel and the newest addition – singer, songwriter and author Alesha Dixon, who joins “Champions” from the smash hit “Britain’s Got Talent.” The spin-off is hosted by Terry Crews.
Unlike the standard format for any edition of Got Talent, The Champions’ contest is not held live – votes for the best act are conducted under a different voting system, and episodes are pre-recorded and aired a few months after the competition has ended.
A total of 40 contestants from across the Got Talent franchise will participate during The Champions contest in 2020, with each of the contest’s preliminaries featuring around 10 participants. Those receiving a Golden Buzzer in each preliminary would secure an automatic place in the grand-final. Remaining places would be competed for in two semi-finals, each consisting of the two highest voted in each preliminary, along with a third in each voted for by the judges from amongst those placing 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively in the audience vote.
The first season of America’s Got Talent: The Champions was won by magician Shin Lim. The Canadian-American magician is the winner of America’s Got Talent Season 13. He is known for his incredible sleight of hand and for close-up card magic routines. Lim is self-taught, having learned most of his skills from watching YouTube. Since then, he has shared some of his techniques on YouTube.
