The newly formed girlband Real Like You performed an original song titled “Be Like Them” during the live finale of The X Factor: The Band, which was held on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.
The group Real Like You emerged as the winner of the special edition of the British reality talent competition The X Factor, which premiered on December 9, 2019 on ITV. The all-girl band beat the boyband Unwritten Rule, who finished second.
Real Like You is composed of members Jess Foley (age 16), Virginia Hampson (age 17), Seorsia Leagh Jack (age 18), Luena Martinez (age 20), Halle Williams (age 19), and Kellimarie Willis (age 17).
For the finale, Real Like You performed “Independent Women” by Destiny’s Child, “Sorry Not Sorry” by Demi Lovato, a medley of “Problem”/”Can’t Feel My Face” by Ariana Grande and The Weeknd, and their original song “Be Like Them”.
The X Factor: The Band is a replacement for a planned All Stars spin-off series, which was originally supposed to air following The X Factor: Celebrity in late-2019.
The format featured Simon Cowell and entertainer Nicole Scherzinger compete to find the best new boyband and girlband, with contestants auditioning in front of industry experts and guest judges including Leona Lewis, Naughty Boy, and Ella Eyre.
The X Factor: The Band aired a total of four episodes starting December 9, 11 and 13, with a live finale at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham on December 15, 2019.
The series was first reported in early 2019 as being The X Factor: All Stars, as the regular series is being put on hiatus due to declining ratings. But in November 2019, it was announced that the proposed All Stars series had been axed in favour of The X Factor: The Band.
The auditions for the competition took place at Syco Music headquarters in London, in front of the judges and industry experts.
Dermot O’Leary returned as host while Simon Cowell served as a judge alongside Nicole Scherzinger, who was previously a judge on the main version of The X Factor and the recently aired celebrity version. British singer and songwriter Leona Lewis joined the judging panel during the Audience Auditions round of the competition.
