In her first audition ever, Instagram star Rosie Bragg (age 18) chooses Rihanna’s ‘Love on The Brain’ to sing in front of the judges and a panel of music industry experts, which includes Fred Ball, who happens to be the writer of Rihanna’s song.
Rosie Bragg revealed that she does not sing in front of people and is just a secret singer in her bedroom. But she sees the competition as “such an opportunity”. “Who can say that they’ve sang in front of Simon Cowell? Not many people really,” she said.
Fred Ball and Naughty Boy (Shahid Khan) were bowled over by Rosie’s performance, with Fred showing his goosebumps to Naughty Boy as Rosie sang.
Judge Nicole Scherzinger said Rosie Bragg has a beautiful voice. Simon Cowell said his only criticism is that Rosie’s image is “a little bit what we see on Instagram all the time.” As Nicole argued that could be changed in “two seconds”, Simon passed on the decision for a Yes or No to Fred.
A few seconds after Simon said those words, Fred stood up and stamped Rosie’s ticket advancing Rosie to the next level of The X Factor: The Band.
When Simon handed Rosie her ticket, he said, “Rosie, next time we see you, you don’t have to come with an image, you know that.” Rosie replied, “This is how I dress normally.”
Simon then admitted, “I’m the last person to give fashion advice, but I’m just…you know what I’m saying.”
For his critique of Rosie’s fashion sense, Simon Cowell has received lots of criticisms online.
Rosie had more than 107,000 Instagram followers, but the number jumped by 5,000 right after the airing of her The X Factor: The Band audition.
“The X Factor: The Band” is a special edition of British reality talent competition The X Factor. It premiered on December 9, 2019 on ITV.
The series was announced on 4 November 2019 as a replacement for a planned All Stars spin-off series, which was originally supposed to air following The X Factor: Celebrity in late-2019.
The format features Simon Cowell and entertainer Nicole Scherzinger, who compete to find the best new boyband and girl band, with contestants auditioning in front of industry experts and guest judges including Leona Lewis, Naughty Boy and Ella Eyre.
The X Factor: The Band is expected to run over the course of four episodes on 9, 11 and 13 December, with a live finale the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham on 15 December 2019.
The series was first reported in early 2019 as being “The X Factor: All Stars”, as the regular series is being put on hiatus due to declining ratings. But in November 2019, it was made known that the proposed All Stars series had been axed in favour of The X Factor: The Band.
The X Factor: The Band will see acts audition to form part of a girl group and boy band.
Dermot O’Leary will be returning to host the programme while Cowell is judging the programme alongside Nicole Scherzinger who has previously served as a judge on the main version of the programme as well as judging the recently aired celebrity version.
