On Week 10 (December 18, 2019) of The Masked Singer (Season 2), “Rottweiler” was unmasked and became this season’s runner-up in the American reality singing competition. “Fox” won The Masked Singer Season 2, with “Flamingo” coming in at third place.

Before he was unmasked, a video of the final clues on Rottweiler’s identity was shown, keeping people guessing as to who could be behind the mask.
So who is the “Rottweiler” on The Masked Singer Season 2?
“Rottweiler” is none other than American singer, songwriter and actor Chris Daughtry (age 39) , who is best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Daughtry and as the fourth-place contestant on the fifth season of American Idol. No one in The Masked Singer panel composed of Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke ever guessed that it was Chris Daughtry behind the Rottweiler mask.
Chris Daughtry said he joined The Masked Singer because he just wanted to have some fun and to do something that he has never done before. He said it meant so much to him to make it this far in the competition and that he’s “very happy with the whole journey.”
The runner-up of The Masked Singer Season 2 said he knew what he was capable of with dancing and singing, but he said it was extremely challenging and difficult once one puts the costume on. Chris Daughtry said the experience gave him a better sense of self-awareness and more belief in himself. He added that the anonymity part was so fun and was “very liberating.”
As to why he chose to be “Rottweiler”, Chris said he was bitten by a rottweiler when he was around 15 years old and he was terrified of rottweilers ever since.
Following American Idol, Chris Daughtry was given a record deal by RCA Records and formed a band called Daughtry. Their self-titled debut album became the fastest selling debut rock album in Nielsen SoundScan history, selling more than one million copies after five weeks of release. The album was recorded before the band was officially formed, making Daughtry the only official member present on the album.
In its ninth week of release, Daughtry reached number one on the Billboard chart. Chris Daughtry is now the third most successful American Idol contestant in terms of record sales, behind Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, who both won their respective seasons. At the 50th Grammy Awards, the band Daughtry was nominated for Best Rock Song for the single “It’s Not Over”.
Since the band’s first album, Chris Daughtry has collaborated with several artists, including Slash, Sevendust, Theory of a Deadman, Chad Kroeger, Brad Arnold, Vince Gill, and Carlos Santana. Daughtry is known for his powerful vocal belting technique and wide vocal range.
Daughtry branched out to acting and made his acting debut in the 100th episode of CSI: New York. In March 2015, it was announced that Daughtry would play a rocker with a drug addiction and write original music for a new dramedy, Studio City, but it was announced in May 2015 that the show was not picked up by Fox. Daughtry portrayed Judas Iscariot in the Biblical live version of The Passion, which aired on March 20, 2016
Chris Daughtry has been married to Deanna Daughtry since November 11, 2000. He has four children: a stepdaughter, Hannah from his wife’s previous marriage; a stepson named Griffin, and twins, Adalynn Rose and Noah James.
