A disturbing tale of a London banker and an unassuming Dutch femme fatal, The Host follows Robert Atkinson (Mike Beckingham) and Vera Tribbe (Maryam Hassouni), two strangers with dark and disturbing secrets.

Robert flees London with a briefcase of stolen money and seeks refuge in Amsterdam at Vera’s home. As they try to suppress their inner demons, a course of destruction emanates from their hidden secrets that can never be escaped.

The Host is the feature directorial debut of British filmmaker Andy Newbery. Screenplay is written by Finola Geraghty, Brendan Bishop & Laurence Lamers; based on an original story by Laurence Lamers.

Vertical Entertainment will release The Host in select theaters and on VOD starting January 17th, 2020.

Maryam Hassouni (age 34) is a Dutch TV and film actress. In 2006 she won an International Emmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress for her role Laila al Gatawi in the Dutch TV film “Offers” (2005). She started her acting career in 2002 with the role of Dunya El-Beneni in the TV series Dunya and Desi, which was nominated for an International Emmy Award for Children and Young People in 2004 and again in 2005.

Mike Beckingham is a British award winning actor whose debut feature film was “Subconscious” (2013). His next feature film was “Redwood” (2017) for which he won as Best Actor at the British Horror Film Festival 2017 amd which also earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the National Film Awards 2018. Redwood won Best Thriller at the National Film Awards 2018.

Dougie Lee Poynter (age 32) is an English musician, songwriter, fashion model, clothing designer, author, actor and philanthropist. He is the bassist and youngest member of the pop rock band McFly, as well as bassist for A. In 2018, he formed the rock band INK.

Nigel Barber is an American actor who has worked as a professional actor and voice over artist since 1968, when he joined AEA. He has starred in several movies including “Firequake”, “High Strung” and “Lake Placid 5”. He was in the original cast of “The Bodyguard -The Musical”, at the Adelphi Theatre, West End, London and appeared as the lead, ‘James Arthur Ray’ in the world premier of “Hearts On Fire”, being short listed for best performance at the Edinburgh Festival.

Suan-Li Ong is a British Chinese actress and model best known for her role as Isabel in NBC’s “Emerald City” TV series. Her Other roles include that of Maggie Xiang in Snatch TV series. Being a fully trained croupier in London’s West End and Mayfair enabled her to train her fellow actors in the James Bond production of “Skyfall”, where she played the head croupier. She briefly appears, as one of Lex Luthor’s bodyguards, in a post-credits scene in the 2017 film “Justice League”.
