Kat began singing in her church choir in the fourth grade and devoted herself to learning piano shortly after. Thanks to her parents, Kat grew up on ’60s and ’70s music that fostered her love of singing.
In middle school, she was invited to New York to sing at Carnegie Hall, which opened the opportunity to sing solo at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts several times. Singing on these world-renowned stages helped Kat realize she could pursue it as a career. Kat is a recent high school graduate and currently a part-time music teacher for kids.
The seventeenth season of the American reality television show The Voice premiered on September 23, 2019, on NBC. John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their second, fourth, and seventeenth season, respectively. Gwen Stefani, who last coached in the twelfth season, will return, replacing Adam Levine. With Levine’s departure, Shelton serves as the last remaining coach from the show’s inaugural season. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his seventeenth season as host.

Rock icon and pop culture phenomenon Gwen Stefani reclaims her red chair alongside superstar coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton as they return for Season 17.
Carson Daly returns as host. The show’s innovative format features five stages of competition: the Blind Auditions, then the Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and, finally, the Live Performance Shows.
