Matt New performed a soulful version of “Sunflower” on The Voice 2019 Blind Auditions (Season 17).
“Sunflower” is a soundtrack from the film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and was originally recorded by Post Malone and Swae Lee, and released as a single in 2018. It topped US Billboard Hot 100 and charted in the top ten of the chart for 33 weeks.
Coaches Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani and John Legend turned their chairs for Matt.
Gwen Stefani said that aside from having a beautiful voice, personality counts. She told Matt that she can help “to make your personality come out and connect with people.” She said that Matt has star quality and they can do something great together.
Kelly Clarkson said she is a huge fan of Matt’s voice and loves that he’s super passionate. She said that Matt has control, making that big, long sustained note and put his spin on it, which shows that Matt is good in strategy.
John Legend said Matt has a lovely tone, and showed versatility and power.
