Damali sang a cover of “Ocean Eyes” on The Voice Blind Auditions 2019 (Season 17).
“Ocean Eyes”, which was released in 2016, is the breakthrough song of American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish.
Among the four Voice coaches, it was Kelly Clarkson who turned her chair for Damali.
Gwen Stefani said some parts of Damali’s performance felt wild, which showed she didn’t have a lot of experience. But she said Damali has a very beautiful voice and she heard Rihanna in it and all these cool tones. Gwen said if she has an opportunity to steal Damali, she would.
Kelly said she tricked other judges by not turning at once. “I love your voice, and I thought that you were really tasteful with all your selections and I’m very excited to work with you,” she told Damali.
