Calvin Lockett delivers a masterful performance of “Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)” during the Blind Auditions of The Voice Season 17.
Lockett got a 3-chair turn from judges John Legend, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani.
Gwen Stefani described Lockett’s voice as “so good” and “so relaxing”. She told Lockett she’s a fan of him and his “whole coolness”.
John Legend said he has never heard of anybody who sounded like Calvin Lockett before. The nearest comparison he can think of is Damien Rice. He concluded by saying, “It was really a masterful performance.”
Blake Shelton agreed with John that Calvin Lockett’s voice and tone is unique. Resigned to the possibility that Calvin will choose John Legend, Blake said he wished John will make a record with Calvin. He predicts that Calvin Lockett can become a star and have a hit album.
