Brooke Stephenson sang a beautiful cover of Patty Griffin’s “Let Him Fly” on The Voice 2019 (Season 17) Blind Auditions.
Coaches Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani turned their chairs for Brooke, and each one pitched themselves twice to be her mentor. John Legend felt he was stupid not to turn his chair for her.
Kelly Clarkson said at the outset that Patty Griffin is her favorite singer-songwriter, and Brooke said “Mine too.” She later said that Brooke has a beautiful voice and is a good storyteller and that her dynamics are spot-on.
Gwen said Brooke’s voice is “soothing, inviting, calm” and said she can use her heart with her voice and it’s magical.
Blake said Brooke might not realize how good a singer she is. He said she shouldn’t go to a coach who would let her try other genre or be an experiment but that her talent should be showcased.
Kelly reacted by saying she would challenge Brooke while Blake said he wants to bring Brooke into the finale.
Brooke Stephenson picked Kelly Clarkson to be her coach for the competition.
