The Secret Garden tells the story of Mary Lennox (Dixie Egerickx), a prickly and unloved 10-year-old girl, born in India to wealthy British parents. When her parents suddenly die, she is sent back to England to live with her uncle Archibald Craven (Colin Firth), on his remote country estate in the Yorkshire moors.
Mary begins to uncover many family secrets at her Uncle’s house, particularly after meeting her sickly cousin Colin (Edan Hayhurst). Together, they heal each other through their discovery of a wondrous secret garden, lost in the grounds of Misselthwaite Manor, a magical place of adventure that will change their lives forever.
The Secret Garden is a fantasy film directed by Marc Munden, based on the novel of the same name by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It is the fourth film adaptation of the said novel, after a 1919 silent film directed by Gustav von Seyffertitz; a 1949 drama film directed by Fred M. Wilcox; and the critically acclaimed 1993 American-British fantasy drama film directed by Agnieszka Holland and executive-produced by Francis Ford Coppola.
