Hearts and Bones tells the story of war photographer Daniel Fisher (Hugo Weaving) who has returned home to the news of his wife’s pregnancy. Not wanting to let fatherhood alter his way of life, he prepares for an upcoming exhibition and his next overseas assignment. But as the birth of his child draws near, he tries to keep his rising anxiety hidden.
Fisher’s exhibition disturbs the peaceful life of a South Sudanese refugee named Sebastian Ahmed (Andrew Luri) who has created a safe life in Australia with his wife and child.
Hearts and Bones is directed by English filmmaker Ben Lawrence, in his first narrative movie. The screenplay is written by Beatrix Christian and Ben Lawrence.
