Blind veteran Robert Finley (age 65), sang a soulful original song “Starting to See” at the quarterfinals round of America’s Got Talent 2019 (Season 14).
“Starting to See” is all about Robert’s time on AGT. Robert, who is from Louisiana, is a Vietnam War veteran.
The live audience at the Dolby Theatre gave Robert a standing ovation and so did judges Simon Cowell, Julianne Hough and Gabrielle Union, only Judge Howie Mandel remained seated. All the judges praised Robert’s performance, with Simon Cowell saying that it was “bloody fantastic” and that the only word that comes to mind with Robert is “legend.”
Howie Mandel was the only one with a different opinion. Although he loves Robert and thinks he’s great, Howie said the song might not connect with the voters of AGT, especially the young people.
