American actor and singer Santino Fontana (age 37) won his first Tony Award for Best Lead Actor in a Musical.
Santino Fontana bagged a Tony for his role as Michael Dorsey/Dorothy Michaels in the musical comedy ‘Tootsie’, which is based on the American comedy film of the same name.
Fontana was also nominated for Best Leading Actor in a Musical way back 2013, when he played the role of Prince Topher in the Broadway version of “Cinderella”.
Aside from his Broadway credits, Santino Fontana is also known for playing Greg Serrano in the TV show ‘Crazy Ex- Girlfriend’ on CW.

In his acceptance speech, Santino Fontana gave honor to his grandmother, who like Dorothy Michaels of Tootsie, is red-headed.
He said, “My grandmother, who passed away awhile ago, was a fiery, red-headed woman. Every day I get to bring her into the room, and it has been the best experience of my life.”
The 73rd Tony Awards (2019) was held on June 9, 2019 at the Radio City Music Hall, with James Corden as host.
