Boston Red Sox player, David Ortiz (age 43), was shot in his native Dominican Republic on June 9, 2019 at 8:50 pm.
David Ortiz was shot in the back by an attacker on a motorcycle when he was at the ‘Dial Bar and Lounge’ in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic’s capital.
David Ortiz was taken to a hospital for surgery (lasted six hours and involved three different doctors), and now in stable condition.
Police described the shooting as an ambush, in which David Ortiz was approached from behind and shot at close range.
Despite what the initial reports said, the location of David Ortiz’s gunshot wound was in the lower back/abdominal region. The bullet went through his stomach.
