YouTuber Sophie Pecora, who revealed she is a bullied teenager, sings and raps about her struggles in a touching original song titled “7th Grade” during America’s Got Talent 2019 Auditions.
The singer and songwriter captures everyone’s heart with her performance, getting a standing ovation from judges Simon Cowell, Julianne Hough, Gabrielle Union, and Howie Mandel; as well as the studio audience.
Gabrielle Union said Sophie was an artist who bared her soul and said she had a special gift. Howie Mandel said Sophie Pecora is really unique but at the same time relatable and wonderful. Julianne Hough commented that she performed the truth and was brilliant. Simon said that Sophie sang a very emotional song and told the teenager her “delivery is really cool” and that he likes her a lot.
Prior to joining America’s Got Talent 2019, Sophie Pecora was sort of “discovered” by YouTuber Shane Dawson in 2018, who was bowled over by Sophie’s early videos of cover versions of different contemporary artists. Shane saw the raw talent and unique style of Sophie Pecora before anyone did and introduced her to his YouTube channel as his “daughter” in a video that got more than 7.6 million views.
