Emilia Clarke (age 32), the English actress who rose to fame with her breakthrough role as Daenerys Targaryen of the recently concluded epic series “Game of Thrones” (GoT), gave her reaction to a petition for a Season 8 remake of the series.
The Game of Thrones petition to remake GoT Season 8 has already gathered almost 1.5 million signatures as of this writing, and the disappointed fans are signing up by the minute.
It’s no secret by now that the Game of Thrones finale, and even the whole of Season 8, has left a load of fans feeling cheated. They felt that the 6 episodes of Season 8 was rushed and a lot of character development and stories were abandoned or completely discarded. Fans said there were lots of plot holes enough to sink a boat.
In view of the backlash against Game of Thrones, a series wherein fans invested a lot of time and emotions, and probably lots of cash for cable subscription and merchandise purchases, it was only a matter of time before someone initiates a petition to air their sentiment.
In a recent interview with the The New Yorker, Emilia Clarke was asked if she heard about the online petition for a remake of GoT Season 8. She simply answered, “No, I didn’t.” (Check out Jason Momoa reaction)
BUT it seems like Emilia Clarke, who GoT fans lovingly call as “Dany” or “Mother of Dragons”, would be willing to do a reshoot if there’s going to be one (which is unlikely).
Asked what she would want to happen if there is a reshoot of Game of Thrones Season 8, Emilia gamely answered, but said she can only speak to her own character.
Emilia Clarke said the genocide (at King’s Landing) was bound to happen, but wants more of the following if there was a reshoot of Game of Thrones Season 8:
- More scenes between Daenerys and Missandei
- More scenes between Daenerys and Cersei
- More scenes between Grey Worm and Missandei
- More dissection, more “beautifully written scenes” between characters, like two people talking
Emilia Clarke said, however, that she is in no position to critique the geniuses behind the 8 seasons of Game of Thrones. She was referring to writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who created “Game of Thrones” based on George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire”.
For the final scenes of the Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke wants “Daenerys’s last images being that kind of a hopeful, childlike love.”
Emilia Clarke added that it absolutely breaks her heart that anyone would think bad about Daenerys. But she is sure some will, and that’s beyond her control.
