Four teenagers are sucked into the magical video game world of Jumanji, and the only way they can escape and return home is to work together to finish the game.
This 2017 fantasy adventure comedy is written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Scott Rosenberg, and Jeff Pinkner, based on a story by McKenna. It is the second installment of the Jumanji franchise, which was based on the 1981 children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg.
The film received generally positive reviews from critics, getting an approval rating of 76% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes and a weighted average score of 58 over 100 on Metacritic.
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” is the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2017, with a box office take of over $962 million worldwide. A sequel will be released in December 2019.
