Disney hits the jackpot once again as its latest superhero movie “Captain Marvel” continues to soar at the box office, with over $550 million worldwide gross as of March 13, 2019.
From its massive weekend debut of $153 million in North America, which is the biggest opening weekend so far this year, Captain Marvel’s earnings swelled to over $450 million on its global launch minus Japan.
China alone, gave “Captain Marvel” over $104 million as of March 13, 2019. A far second among foreign markets is South Korea, where the movie earned over $24 million (as of March 10), followed by United Kingdom with $16.48 million.
As of March 13,2019, “Captain Marvel” has a domestic gross of $187.6 million and foreign gross of $362.6 million, for a total worldwide gross of $550.2 million, based on Box Office Mojo data. That huge box office take was achieved 6 days after its release date on March 8, 2019.
Analysts are expecting “Captain Marvel” to still dominate the box office charts in the following weeks, with an expected maximum of $85 million on its second weekend.
“Captain Marvel” is topbilled by Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn. It is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
