Stand up comedian Preacher Lawson (age 27) stepped up his game when he performed at the finals of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions”.
Before he got to the stage, a video clip showed Preacher Lawson working out on the gym and telling his story as a stand up comedian. He said it wasn’t easy to be funny because it was a strenuous process.
Preacher said there are a lot of people who are way funnier than him but give up too soon. He said he had been struggling for 8 years and almost quit before he joined ‘America’s Got Talent’ (AGT).
Recalling how he lost to Darci Lynne in Season 12 of AGT, Preacher vowed to get back at her saying, “I’m gonna win! I’m coming for you Darci, even if you didn’t make it through. I mean, whatever.” Then he laughed.
But when he learned that Darci was coming back as a wildcard, Preacher’s demeanor changed. He said, “Are you serious? Darci Lynne was added as a wildcard. What!”
Looks like that Darci thing was a part of his act, since he told the live audience later he did that when he was sober.
For his finals act, Preacher talked about drinking at first. Then he later gave funny anecdotes and jokes about what he observed when he worked at a gym.
At the end of his act, Preacher ripped his shirt off, showing a well-sculpted body that left the audience cheering and Mel B almost blushing, unable to look at him straight for a long time.
Preacher Lawson’s performance left the audience and the judges laughing loudly. They all gave him a standing ovation at the end of his act.

Mel B
You know that I’m a fan of yours. You are just funny. No matter what you say, how you say it, you can say anything and I’ll be laughing and screaming with happiness and joy and ooohhh – go to next person! (She closes her eyes, and looks away from Preacher.)
Simon Cowell
I felt tonight, I wasn’t looking at a competition. I felt genuinely, I was just watching a star. It’s as simple as that. No really, I mean that. Everything about you has got better. (Mel interjected, “and his body got better”). And you were brilliant.
Howie Mandel
You give us everything. You know there are funny physical comedians, there are funny verbal comedians. There’s great storytellers. You are all those in one. And that’s why we love you and I think the people that represent each of the 50 states are talking about you right now and I’m so proud that a comedian has made it this far.
